H.F.O ( Heavy fuel oil ) Bunker line diagram

In this article, I will explain about H.F.O Bunker line diagram so that you can get rough idea about bunker diagram and you can easily trace for your ship.

Number of tanks depend on the size of ship and main engine.

No. Of pump or tank depend on ship to ship but basic idea is same for all ship.

This is rough sketch which help you to draw line diagram of your ship.

Tanks used in H.F.O is

1.H.F.O Service Tank

2.H.F.O Settling Tank

3.L.S.H.F.O Service Tank

4.L.S.H.F.O Settling tank

5.L.H.S.F.O Storage Tank (p )

6.H.F.O Storage Tank (p )

7.No.1 H.F.O Storage Tank (s )

8.No.2 H.F.O Storage Tank (s)

9.Overflow Tank

● H.F.O and L.S.H.F.O used for machinery is used From their respective Service tank.i.e ( L.S.H.F.O Service Tank and H.F.O Service Tank )

● Settling tank is mainly used for gravity-based pre-cleaning of fuel oils. H.F.O transferred from settling tank to service tank via centrifuge.

● All storage tank is in bottom of ship.So we can say all storage tank as Double bottom tank.

● L.S.H.F.O Storage tank used for storing Low Sulphur H.F.O.

● All H.F.O Storage or Double bottom tank for bunker or store H.F.O

● Overflow tank is tank in which fuel over flow from both service tank is store in this tank.

Explanation Of H.F.O Bunker line diagram.

There are two bunker station on Deck.

1.Port bunker station

2.Stbd bunker station

On each bunker station there is four bunker manifold.

1.D.O

2.H.F.O

3.MECC

4.AECC

H.F.O Bunker manifold from deck meet in engine room. From this bunker manifold filling line goes to all Six tanks (except overflow tank and service tank ).

1.L.S.H.F.O Settling tank

2.H.F.O Settling tank

3.L.S.H.F.O Storage Tank (p )

4.H.F.O Storage Tank (p )

5.No.1H.F.O Storage Tank (s )

6.No.2 H.F.O Storage Tank (s )

Fuel transfer from one tank to another tank

There is 2 H.F.O Transfer pump and 1 D.O transfer pump.

Suction Line connected to H.F.O transfer pump

1.LS.H.F.O Settling tank

2.H.F.O Settling Tank

3.L.S.H.F.O storage Tank (p )

4.H.F.O Storage Tank (p )

5. No.1 H.F.O Storage Tank (s )

6.No.2 H.F.O Storage Tank (s )

7.Overflow Tank

Discharge line of H.F.O Transfer pump connected with all tank mentioned above except overflow tank.

1.L.S.H.F.O Settling Tank

2.H.F.O Settling Tank

3.L.S.H.F.O Storage Tank (p )

4.H.F.O Storage Tank (p )

5.No.1 H.F.O Storage Tank (s )

6.No.2 H.F.O Storage Tank (s )

Note:- Discharge of fuel from one tank to another tank via same incoming bunker line. So, not get confuse during tracing line diagram.

If H.F.O transfer pump is not working the D.O / M.G.O transfer pump used.Suction line of H.F.O transfer pump connected with D.O transfer pump suction and discharge line goes to H.F.O filling line.

And Same for D.O means .If D.O transfer pump is not working then D.O transfer from H.F.O transfer pump.Suction line of H.F.O transfer pump connected with suction line of D.O transfer pump and one discharge line to filling line of D.O
