Before discussing first we know about a compressor.

A compressor is a mechanical device which increases the pressure of a gas by reducing its volume.

Compressor of Ac / Air conditioning system/air conditioner is the components in the system which raises the temperature and pressure of the vapour refrigerant that leaves the evaporator coil

Function of compressor in AC or Air Conditioning System

Function of compressor in AC or Air Conditioning system are:-

1. To raise the temperature and pressure of vapour refrigerant which leaves the evaporator coil.
Notes :-Refrigerant enters the compressor as low-pressure, low-temperature gas, and leaves the compressor as a high-pressure, high-temperature gas.

2.act as pump I.e maintain flow of refrigerant in the system.

It is essential that the compressor raises the pressure of the vapor refrigerant, resulting in a pressure difference; the pressure difference is required for the refrigerant to flow. High-pressure fluids tend to flow toward lower-pressure fluids.

Basically,what happening is,the compressor did the work of raising the pressure of refrigerant so that this high pressure refrigerant flow to the lower pressure refrigerant in the evaporator coil.

Note:-these compressors are designed specifically for air conditioning systems and do not provide heating or ventilation functions.

Function of compressor in refrigeration system

Function of compressor in a refrigeration system is to raise the pressure of the vaporizer refrigerant, causes its situation temperature to rise, so that it is a higher than that of the the sea water or air, cooling the condenser.The compressor also promotes circulation of refrigerant by pumping it around the system.

Why compression takes place :- compression takes place to raise the temperature and refrigerant pressure.
