What is Dry -dock?

A Dry Dock Sometimes (Dry-dock or dry dock ) is a narrow basin or vessel that can be flooded to allow to allow a load to be floated in, then drained to allow that load to come to rest on a dry plateform.

Dry dock are used for the construction, maintaince and repair of ships,boats and other watercraft.Some dry docks are designed to maintain for ship construction whereas others are intended for repairs and maintainance.

Dry dock is an important Practice that is assiciated with all the vessel that float on water.When shipis floating on water, there are several maintainces that can not be carried out .So the under water portion of the hull needs to be made accessible which us purpose served by dry docking.

According to different classification socities, a ship needs to be dry dock twice in a five year.
Generally,ships get dry dock after 2 years.But vessel which are sailing in fresh water this period can be extended.
