Handling over engine room watch at sea ?

1.Officer incharge of engineering watch shall not hand over watch if there a reason to to believe that deliver is not capable of or fit (physically, mentally, emotionally) of carrying out watch keeping duties efficiently and in that case chief engineer should be notified.

2.Standing order and special instructions of chief engineer relating to operation of ships system and machinary should be full fitted.

3.Shoukd specify the level (where applicable ) and Condition of water in bilges ,ballast tank, slop tank,reserve tank,fresh water tanks,sewage tanks ,and any special requirement for use and disposal of contents thereof.

4.Specify Condition and level of fuel in reserve tank settling tank and other storage facilities.

5.Specify if any requirement relating to sanitary system disposal.

6.Specify condition and made operation of main engine auxiliary engine and electric power distribution.

7.Applicable then specify condition of monitoring control of console equipment and which are being operated manually.

8.Any potentially adverse condition resulting from bad weather,ice ,shallow water etc.

9.Avaibility of fire fighting appliances and if used.

10.Report of engine room rating relating to their assigned duties.

11.State of completeness of engine room log log.
